NYT Recognizes Top Woman Executive Touched by Lupus

A recent article in the New York Times profiles Deirdre Connelly, President, North America Pharmaceuticals at GlaxoSmithKline. Of particular interest to us was Ms. Connelly’s personal connection to lupus as the article notes that she spent a year back at home in San Juan helping care for her father when he was diagnosed with lupus. Her career took off after her dad was able to return to work, and she joined Eli Lilly in San Juan as a sales representative. After many years of increasing responsibility, Ms. Connelly joined GSK in 2009, the company that in 2011 launched the first drug ever developed for lupus, Benlysta®
