LRI Coalition Member Kathleen Arntsen Advocates for Lupus Clinical Trials
Tuesday, July 24, 2012
LRI Coalition’s Kathleen Arntsen was the only patient advocate who spoke at a recent press conference hosted by the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and New York Health Works to announce the release of the “Research In Your Backyard: Developing Cures, Creating Jobs” report. The most striking finding — one third of all clinical trials in the U.S. are conducted in New York, making the state the world’s leader in clinical research.
Here is the presentation given and the video shown (see first video below) on what a clinical trial is, how they are developed and the positive impact they have on the lives of patients, as well as the positive economic impact they have on the local economy. President of the LRI Coalition member Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern New York, Inc., Kathleen appeared in a news segment on the local ABC affiliate (second video below) the night of the press conference.
Kathleen’s interview on the local ABC affiliate (WSYR-TV) is available here in print.
