The lupus community has lost a dedicated champion with the passing of U.S. House of Representatives C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla). Representative Young consistently backed the need to further biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health to foster the advancements that improve the lives of Americans living with serious diseases, including lupus. “With compassion for all patients, Congressman Young supported national educational efforts like the Lupus Initiative that help alleviate healthcare disparities, particularly among underserved communities,” commented Margaret Dowd, President and CEO of the Lupus Research Institute.
We will miss our good friend and send our heartfelt condolences to his family.
